Enabling Eclipse Media Controls

Click Start and then Control Panel.

In Control Panel open the Administrative Tools icon and then open the Component Services icon in there.

Click Services (local) on the left side of the screen that comes up and then look down the list of services on the right side of the screen for one called HID Input Service.

See what it says next to it under the  Status column - it needs to say " Started" for the volume controls to be running. If it says " Stopped" or " Disabled" then try right clicking it and then clicking Properties - Select the start-up type as Automatic and click apply - Then click the Start button under Service Status which should then show a progress bar then change the ' Stopped' comment to ' Started'.

The Eclipse sometimes needs media key support enabled under Windows XP - some preinstalled XP systems do come with this file installed, the easiest way to install this file is to download and run the 7.7Mb Microsoft file for the IntelliType Pro 5.5 Keyboard Software for Windows:

When installing this file, choose the Multimedia Keyboard and once the installation is finished re-plug the Eclipse - the media keys should now be working.
